John MooreSalad Savoy was created by John Moore in 1983 from an idea he remembered from a vegetable garden in Sweden. Through detailed research and development, this entirely new vegetable, which is trademarked under the name Salad Savoy, was grown in Salinas, California, where it flourishes and is processed today.

A member of the Cruciferae family of vegetables, Salad Savoy is related to kale and cabbage, with a flavor that mildly resembles cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage. When cooked – which it does in no time, it becomes extraordinarily mellow and retains its beautiful color.

Salad Savoy officially entered the marketplace in 1984, and by 1985 it was recognized by Venture magazine as one of the "100 Best New Ideas of the Year."

Not just another pretty face, Salad Savoy has proven to be more than just a garnish. Salad Savoy is the original, not to be confused with copycats. It has made its way into everything from pastas and casseroles to soups, salads, and numerous main-dish masterpieces.

Mr. FoodSince Salad Savoy is available year-round, it can be served up for any holiday or occasion -- including an everyday breakfast, lunch or dinner, as demonstrated by numerous celebrated chefs, including Art Ginsburg, better known as TV's Mr. Food, and Chef Tony Merola. In fact, many of their scrumptious, nutritious and eye-catching recipes featuring the various Salad Savoy products are available throughout this site.

We don’t call Salad Savoy “The Versatile Vegetable” for nothing! Just one bite and you’ll taste the difference.

According to John Moore, President of Salad Savoy Corporation, "We've had tremendous response to our products to date, and plan to expand our line even further in the coming years. I promise if you keep checking back here we'll have new things to share with you!"
